FAPIL Study Visit

On 15 April, first-year students from the Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering and Management had the opportunity to take part in a study visit to FAPIL as part of the Organisation and Business Management course, under the guidance of lecturer Raphaela Vidal.

The visit gave students valuable first-hand exposure to an industrial environment, complementing the knowledge acquired in the classroom. Below is a testimonial from student Joana Navio, who shared her reflections on the experience.

Throughout the visit, we were accompanied by members of the company’s team, who were extremely welcoming and willing to share their knowledge while answering all of our questions. The visit to FAPIL provided a clear and comprehensive understanding of how a modern plastics manufacturing company operates, allowing us to observe every stage of the production process, from the reception of raw materials to the final product.

As we toured the facilities, we had the opportunity to see first-hand how automation, quality control and sustainability practices are integrated into the industrial process. We also gained a deeper understanding of injection moulding, manufacturing processes, recycling and logistics.

This experience highlighted the importance of operational efficiency, responsible waste management and technological innovation in enhancing the competitiveness and development of the manufacturing industry.

The visit proved to be extremely valuable, as it enabled us to reinforce the theoretical concepts learned in class through practical observation in a real industrial setting, strengthening the connection between academic learning and professional practice.
