Guidance in the Project Curriculum Unit
29 October, 2024
The Project UC is a compulsory subject in the 2nd semester of the 3rd year of the LEGI course. Prof. Ricardo Mateus, coordinator of the UC, points out that “the Project UC aims to provide students with a real context in which to apply the knowledge, skills and methodologies acquired throughout the Industrial Engineering and Management course and to develop professional, social and personal skills”.
The project course also requires students to develop other skills such as autonomy, discipline, organization and time management in order to meet deadlines. In order to be successful in the Project UC, it is expected that they already have some prior knowledge developed throughout the course. Prof. Raphaela Vidal points out a few things that students can already work on from the first semester of the course when doing their academic work:
- Knowledge of the rules for preparing a project and how they apply to scientific documents ( available at https://www.ulusofona.pt/media/normas-para-elaboracao-e-apresentacao-de-dissertacoes-e-teses.pdf )
- Knowledge of how to search scientific databases
- Knowledge of scientific writing
“When students don't have knowledge of these points, there is a marked delay in completing the project,” says Prof. Raphaela Vidal.
The student can agree with the supervisor to start supervision meetings from November onwards, as long as they have registered for the course beforehand. The UC coordinator therefore invites them to a meeting to be held on Wednesday, October 30, at 11 a.m. in room C.1.5.
