Presentation and Defense of the First Dissertation of the Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management at Lusófona University
13 December, 2024
On December 12, 2024, engineer Flávio Francisco da Silva defended his first dissertation in the Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management (EGI) at Lusófona University. Entitled “Digital transformation in the manufacturing industry: Digital transformation models in a holistic and integrative vision”, the dissertation was supervised by Professor Miguel Vieira and co-supervised by Professor Pedro A. Marques, both from the Faculty of Engineering at Lusófona University.
The work addressed the challenges and complexity of digital transformation in the manufacturing industry, proposing an innovative strategic roadmap to support managers and organizations in implementing digital technologies in their processes. The model developed, validated through a practical case study, stood out for its applicability and potential impact, filling a gap identified in the scientific literature: the absence of an integrated guide that covers everything from defining the strategy to executing the digital transformation. The dissertation was assessed by a jury chaired by Professor Francisco Silva Pinto, with Professor André Carvalho, from the Faculty of Science and Technology at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, as the examiner, who recognized the merit and relevance of the work.
The defense of this dissertation marks a moment of immense satisfaction for the teachers of the EGI course and for Lusófona University, reflecting its commitment to training professionals who are able to face the challenges of Industry 4.0.
We congratulate Master Flávio da Silva on this achievement and wish him every success in his career!
