Professor Pedro Marques, from EGI, to be guest editor of special edition of Sustainability Magazine

December 21, 2023

Operations managers are under increasing pressure to minimize the environmental impact of their activities and maximize the quality of the products and services offered to customers. Supplier selection is a critical aspect of operational performance, as suppliers' processes and products must be environmentally friendly. In addition, operations management must consider the well-being and safety of employees, and encourage behaviors that contribute to a culture of excellence.

In order to present and discuss in depth the major issues relating to supplier selection, supply chain, automation and optimization of production processes, product life cycle and operational excellence practices, social, economic and environmental sustainability, among other concerns, professors from the Faculty of Engineering at Lusófona University (FE-UL) and the Setúbal School of Technology at the Setúbal Polytechnic Institute (EST-IPS) were invited to be editors on a special edition of the "Sustainability" magazine.

Drs. Pedro Alexandre Marques (FE-UL) and Nuno Ricardo Pais Costa (EST-IPS) will be responsible for the issue entitled "Sustainable Operations: Advancing Industry Practices for a Greener Future", which will bring together papers with free access to the public (Open Access) and will receive manuscript submissions until October 11, 2024.
