Study visit - Compal Sumol (Almeirim)On 9 April, the first year students of Lusófona University's Industrial Engineering and Management degree went on a study visit to Sumol Compal, the leading company in the Portuguese non-alcoholic drinks market.

The visit, organised by Professor Raphaela Vidal as part of the Business Organisation and Management course, took place at the Almeirim factory. The group was welcomed by Patrícia Freitas, Communications Technician, who introduced the company and answered various questions ranging from technical to strategic aspects. This gave the group a comprehensive overview of the company, making the students more enthusiastic about visiting the plant.

As the group began their visit to the production area, they realised that the company is highly automated and that there were very few people on site. This is a highly efficient Portuguese company that invests heavily in innovation, while maintaining a focus on sustainability issues.

It was really surprising to realise the application of industrial automation and how seriously they take quality and sustainability at every stage of each process" (Carlos Costa, student).

The group followed the final stage of the production of various drinks, observing how the packaging arrives at the workstations and how it takes on the shape it is known for on the market, which surprised the students.

At the end of the visit, it was possible to associate various contents with what was seen in the company. We would therefore like to thank Sumol Compal for hosting the group and all the people who made this experience possible.
