Think math

Under the coordination of Professor Pedro Matias, the pilot project Pensar Matemática started on 16th October 2021.

This is a voluntary project aimed at students from the Faculty of Engineering who are interested and motivated to learn to study Mathematics efficiently. The main objective of the project is to foster in students a real understanding of concepts at the expense of memorizing recipes, thus contributing to the sustainable development of their mathematical thinking.

In an initial phase, it is also intended to fill a series of basic gaps at the level of non-higher education Mathematics in order to eliminate elementary calculation errors that affect the learning of higher education subjects.

The project will take place on Saturdays, from 11 am to 1 pm, during the academic year 2021/22 and, in this pilot phase, will only involve undergraduate students in Industrial Engineering and Management and Environmental Engineering. Due to adherence and the results achieved, it is intended to extend the project to all students of the Faculty of Engineering in subsequent academic years.
